Tango began beneath my grandma’s kitchen window in 1940s Honduras, where wild Scotch Bonnets taught neighborhood kids about heat the hard way. Those fiery memories inspired her chile sauce, shared at the family table, and then the local market, until she moved to America and the recipe went quiet.
Seven decades later in Brooklyn, as I fell for spicy food, she revived the recipe and taught me to make it. I shared it with friends and local shops and Tango was born.
Today, we make Tango in sunny Southern California, one small batch at a time, with the same simple, fresh, whole ingredients and her devotion to flavor, craft, and quality. We still haven’t compromised, and it’s not in the forecast. No shortcuts to getting Tango exactly right. Your satisfaction is guaranteed.
